Description

This decadent marble cake combines the richness of semi-sweet chocolate chips with the creamy texture of ricotta cheese, creating a moist, flavorful treat. The light and airy texture from the ricotta makes this cake a standout, while the chocolate layers add a deep, indulgent flavor. A perfect dessert for chocolate lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Mix in the ricotta cheese, milk, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a more marbled effect, you can divide the batter in half and swirl the chocolate batter with the ricotta batter before baking.
  • You can frost the cake with a chocolate glaze or dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
  • This cake can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
