Description

A warm, comforting dessert that brings the sweetness of apples and the richness of a buttery cake together. This Swedish Apple Cake is easy to make, with tender baked apples at the bottom and a soft, cinnamon-infused cake on top. Serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for the perfect finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • Arrange the sliced apples in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Stir in melted butter and eggs until well combined.
  • Pour the batter over the apples in the pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • This cake can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
  • To enhance the flavor, consider adding a handful of chopped nuts (like walnuts) into the batter.
  • The apples will soften and caramelize slightly during baking, making the cake even more delicious.
