Description

These classic Danish Butter Cookies are buttery, crisp, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Made with just a few simple ingredients, they are perfect for any occasion, from holiday treats to everyday indulgences. Using a cookie press gives them a perfect shape, making them as beautiful as they are tasty!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing until the dough is fully incorporated and smooth.
  • Using a cookie press, form cookies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • If you don’t have a cookie press, you can shape the dough into balls and flatten them with a fork or use a piping bag for decorative shapes.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness, or dip the edges of the cooled cookies in melted chocolate.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week and make great gifts for the holidays!
