- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate custard
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix the sugar, flour, and salt. Add in the yeast mixture, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours.
- Once risen, roll out the dough and cut into rounds. Place a spoonful of chocolate custard in the center of each round. Fold the dough over and seal the edges.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 350°F (180°C). Fry the donuts until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- If you don’t have chocolate custard, you can use a thick chocolate ganache or even Nutella as a substitute.
- These donuts are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle powdered sugar over the donuts before serving.
