Ingredients
- Tater Tots: 1 bag (about 32 oz)
- Ground Beef: 1 lb (80/20 blend recommended for juicy burgers)
- Cheese: 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or American cheese, for classic cheeseburger taste)
- Buns: 8 mini slider buns (or 8 regular-sized buns, cut in half)
- Ketchup: 2 tablespoons (for serving)
- Mustard: 2 tablespoons (for serving)
- Pickles: 8 small pickle slices (optional, for topping)
- Lettuce: A handful of fresh lettuce (optional, for topping)
- Salt: To taste
- Black Pepper: To taste
- Olive Oil: 1 tablespoon (for cooking the beef patties)
Instructions
- Prepare the Tater Tots: Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the tater tot package. Arrange the tater tots on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown. Flip halfway through for even cooking.
- Make the Mini Burger Patties: While the tater tots are baking, form the ground beef into 8 small, slider-sized patties. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Cook the mini burger patties for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (they should be small, so they cook quickly). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover the pan to melt the cheese.
- Assemble the Mini Cheeseburgers: Once the tater tots are done, remove them from the oven. Place one hot tater tot on the bottom half of each slider bun. Add a cheeseburger patty on top of the tater tot, then top with ketchup, mustard, pickles, and a small piece of lettuce (if using). Close with the top half of the bun.
- Serve: Serve your mini tater tot cheeseburgers immediately while they’re hot and crispy. Perfect for parties or as a fun family dinner!
Notes
- If you prefer, you can add additional toppings like tomatoes, onions, or bacon for more flavor.
- For a lighter version, use turkey or chicken patties instead of beef.
- These can be made in advance by cooking the patties and assembling everything right before serving.
- For extra flavor, toast the buns in the oven or skillet for a couple of minutes before assembling.
