For the Dogs:
- 4 hot dog buns
- 4 beef or turkey hot dogs
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Optional Toppings:
- Sliced jalapeños
- Chopped onions
- Mustard
- Ketchup
Instructions
For the Chili:
- In a large skillet or pot, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another minute.
- Add the diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Simmer the chili over low heat for 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
For the Dogs:
- While the chili simmers, cook the hot dogs according to your preference (grill, boil, or pan-fry).
- Toast the hot dog buns lightly, if desired.
- Place each cooked hot dog in a bun, then spoon a generous amount of chili over the dog.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and any optional toppings like jalapeños, onions, mustard, or ketchup.
