Ingredients

Scale

For the Chili:

  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Dogs:

  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 4 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Optional Toppings:

  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Chopped onions
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup

Instructions

For the Chili:

  1. In a large skillet or pot, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Simmer the chili over low heat for 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

For the Dogs:

  1. While the chili simmers, cook the hot dogs according to your preference (grill, boil, or pan-fry).
  2. Toast the hot dog buns lightly, if desired.
  3. Place each cooked hot dog in a bun, then spoon a generous amount of chili over the dog.
  4. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and any optional toppings like jalapeños, onions, mustard, or ketchup.
