Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup fruit jam (strawberry, raspberry, or your choice)
- Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until combined. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until the dough comes together. - Roll and Cut the Dough:
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter (or any shape you prefer), cut out cookies. For half of the cookies, use a smaller heart-shaped cutter to cut out the center, creating a window for the jam. - Assemble the Cookies:
Place the solid cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spoon a small amount of fruit jam into the center of each cookie with a cut-out. Carefully place the cookies with the cut-out over the jam-filled ones, gently pressing the edges to seal. - Bake the Cookies:
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. - Finish and Serve:
Once cooled, dust the cookies with powdered sugar (optional). Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- You can use any type of fruit jam or jelly for the filling, such as raspberry, apricot, or peach.
- Make sure to let the cookies cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
