Description
These Air Fryer French Fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. With just a few simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you’ll have a delicious, healthier version of your favorite fries, made in the air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb russet potatoes (2 large or 3 medium potatoes)
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
- ⅛ tsp ground black pepper (or to taste)
- ⅛ tsp garlic powder
- ⅛ tsp paprika
Instructions
-
Prep the Potatoes:
- Wash and peel the russet potatoes (optional, but peeling is recommended for a smoother texture).
- Cut the potatoes into thin, even strips. Try to keep them uniform in size for even cooking.
- Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch (this step helps make them crispier). Drain and pat them dry with paper towels.
-
Season the Fries:
- In a large bowl, toss the dried potato strips with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
-
Air Fry the French Fries:
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
- Place the seasoned potato strips in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer).
- Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crispiness. For extra crispy fries, increase the cooking time by 2-3 minutes, but be sure to check for doneness.
-
Serve and Enjoy:
- Once the fries are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese or fresh herbs like parsley after the fries are cooked.
- Make sure the fries are not overcrowded in the air fryer basket, as this can prevent them from becoming crispy.
