Description

These Air Fryer French Fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. With just a few simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you’ll have a delicious, healthier version of your favorite fries, made in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb russet potatoes (2 large or 3 medium potatoes)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ⅛ tsp ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • ⅛ tsp garlic powder
  • ⅛ tsp paprika

Instructions

  • Prep the Potatoes:

    • Wash and peel the russet potatoes (optional, but peeling is recommended for a smoother texture).
    • Cut the potatoes into thin, even strips. Try to keep them uniform in size for even cooking.
    • Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch (this step helps make them crispier). Drain and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Season the Fries:

    • In a large bowl, toss the dried potato strips with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
  • Air Fry the French Fries:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
    • Place the seasoned potato strips in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer).
    • Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crispiness. For extra crispy fries, increase the cooking time by 2-3 minutes, but be sure to check for doneness.
  • Serve and Enjoy:

    • Once the fries are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese or fresh herbs like parsley after the fries are cooked.
  • Make sure the fries are not overcrowded in the air fryer basket, as this can prevent them from becoming crispy.
