Ingredients
- Passion Fruit Juice: 1 cup (fresh or store-bought)
- Black Tea Bags: 2 tea bags (or green tea for a lighter option)
- Water: 4 cups (for brewing the tea)
- Sugar: 2-3 tablespoons (adjust to taste)
- Ice Cubes: 2 cups
- Lemon: 1, sliced (for garnish and added freshness)
- Mint Leaves: A few sprigs (optional, for garnish)
- Honey: 1 tablespoon (optional, for added sweetness)
Instructions
- Brew the Tea: Boil 4 cups of water. Once boiling, pour the hot water over the tea bags in a heatproof jug or pitcher. Let the tea steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you want the tea. Remove the tea bags and discard them.
- Sweeten the Tea: While the tea is still warm, stir in the sugar (or honey) until fully dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
- Combine with Passion Fruit: Once the tea has cooled, add the passion fruit juice to the pitcher and stir well.
- Chill the Tea: Refrigerate the tea for at least 1-2 hours or until it’s well-chilled. The longer it sits, the more the flavors will meld together.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled passion fruit tea over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves, if desired.
- Enjoy: Refresh yourself with a cold, tangy, and sweet glass of passion fruit iced tea!
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less sugar or honey. If you prefer an unsweetened version, you can skip the sugar altogether.
- If you want to make this a fun, adult beverage, you can add a splash of rum or vodka to create a tropical cocktail.
- For a stronger passion fruit flavor, you can add passion fruit pulp (seeds) from fresh fruit instead of juice.
- This tea can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for a few days.
