Description

These Mini Heart-Shaped Pizzas are the perfect way to add some fun and creativity to pizza night. Whether you’re making them for a special occasion like Valentine’s Day or simply to enjoy with family, these adorable heart-shaped pizzas are customizable with your favorite toppings. With a simple homemade dough recipe and optional homemade pizza sauce, these mini pizzas are fresh, flavorful, and fun to make!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough (Skip if using store-bought):

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Pizza Sauce (Optional – use store-bought if easier):

  • 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Toppings:

  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices
  • Any additional toppings (bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, pineapple)

Instructions

  • If using homemade dough, activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water and sugar in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center, and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes on a floured surface, until it’s smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • While the dough is rising, prepare the pizza sauce by combining canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, garlic powder, sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir to combine and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 1/4-inch thick round on a floured surface. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out mini heart shapes from the dough.
  • Place the heart-shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on each pizza base, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and add your favorite toppings, such as pepperoni, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, or pineapple.
  • Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute store-bought pizza dough and pizza sauce if you’re short on time.
  • If you’re making these for kids, feel free to let them choose their own toppings!
  • For a crispier crust, bake the pizzas directly on the oven rack for the last 2-3 minutes.
  • These mini pizzas are perfect for individual servings or for a fun group activity.
