Description

These Korean Glazed Chicken Drumsticks are a sweet and savory treat, featuring crispy, tender chicken coated in a rich, flavorful glaze. This dish offers the perfect combination of tangy, spicy, and umami flavors, making it an irresistible addition to any dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 chicken drumsticks (skin-on)

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for searing)

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.

  • Season the chicken drumsticks with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Brown the chicken on all sides for about 7-10 minutes, then remove from the skillet and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, gochujang, garlic, and ginger. Stir to combine and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  • Return the chicken drumsticks to the skillet, turning to coat them with the sauce.

  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C), basting the chicken with the sauce halfway through.

  • Remove from the oven and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can broil the drumsticks for an additional 3-5 minutes after baking.

  • You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less gochujang.

  • If you don’t have gochujang, you can substitute with sriracha or another hot sauce, though the flavor will differ slightly.
