Ingredients
-
8 chicken drumsticks (skin-on)
-
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for searing)
-
3 tablespoons soy sauce
-
2 tablespoons honey
-
2 tablespoons brown sugar
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
-
1 tablespoon sesame oil
-
1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon grated ginger
-
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
-
2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
-
Season the chicken drumsticks with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Brown the chicken on all sides for about 7-10 minutes, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, gochujang, garlic, and ginger. Stir to combine and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
-
Return the chicken drumsticks to the skillet, turning to coat them with the sauce.
-
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C), basting the chicken with the sauce halfway through.
-
Remove from the oven and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately.
Notes
-
For extra crispiness, you can broil the drumsticks for an additional 3-5 minutes after baking.
-
You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less gochujang.
-
If you don’t have gochujang, you can substitute with sriracha or another hot sauce, though the flavor will differ slightly.
