Ingredients
-
Chicken:
-
Chicken thighs or breasts (boneless or bone-in)
-
-
For the Sauce:
-
3–4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/4 cup honey
-
3 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tsp fresh ginger (optional)
-
1 tsp cornstarch (optional for thickening the sauce)
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
-
Optional Garnish:
-
Green onions, chopped (optional)
-
Instructions
-
Cook the Chicken:
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
-
Season the chicken thighs or breasts with salt and pepper.
-
Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until golden brown and cooked through. For boneless breasts, this will take about 6-7 minutes per side, while bone-in thighs may take 8-10 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
-
-
Make the Sauce:
-
In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
-
Add honey, soy sauce, and ginger (if using) to the skillet. Stir and bring to a simmer.
-
To thicken the sauce, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of water to form a slurry and add it to the sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens to your liking.
-
-
Combine and Coat:
-
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, coating it in the sauce. Let it simmer in the sauce for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
-
-
Garnish and Serve:
-
Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
-
Serve the honey garlic chicken with steamed rice, vegetables, or your favorite side dishes.
-
Notes
-
If you want the sauce to be more pronounced, increase the amount of garlic or honey.
-
For a gluten-free version, use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce instead of regular soy sauce.
-
Feel free to marinate the chicken in the honey soy mixture for 30 minutes before cooking for even more flavor.
