Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken features succulent chicken thighs or breasts coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. The balance of honey and soy sauce creates a perfectly sticky glaze, while the garlic brings an aromatic depth of flavor. Optionally, you can thicken the sauce for a more indulgent coating, and garnish with green onions for a burst of freshness. This dish is quick, easy, and perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Chicken:

    • Chicken thighs or breasts (boneless or bone-in)

  • For the Sauce:

    • 34 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1/4 cup honey

    • 3 tbsp soy sauce

    • 1 tbsp olive oil

    • 1 tsp fresh ginger (optional)

    • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional for thickening the sauce)

    • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional Garnish:

    • Green onions, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the Chicken:

    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

    • Season the chicken thighs or breasts with salt and pepper.

    • Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until golden brown and cooked through. For boneless breasts, this will take about 6-7 minutes per side, while bone-in thighs may take 8-10 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.

  • Make the Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.

    • Add honey, soy sauce, and ginger (if using) to the skillet. Stir and bring to a simmer.

    • To thicken the sauce, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of water to form a slurry and add it to the sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens to your liking.

  • Combine and Coat:

    • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, coating it in the sauce. Let it simmer in the sauce for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  • Garnish and Serve:

    • Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.

    • Serve the honey garlic chicken with steamed rice, vegetables, or your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • If you want the sauce to be more pronounced, increase the amount of garlic or honey.

  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce instead of regular soy sauce.

  • Feel free to marinate the chicken in the honey soy mixture for 30 minutes before cooking for even more flavor.
