Ingredients
- Instant/rapid rise yeast (or active dry yeast)
- Bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
- Sugar
- Salt
- Warm water
- Olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the yeast with warm water and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Gradually add the bread flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until the dough begins to come together.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down, turn it out onto a floured surface, and shape it into your desired pizza size.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- Add your favorite toppings to the dough and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Notes
- If you don’t have bread flour, all-purpose flour will work, but the texture may be slightly different.
- If you’re using active dry yeast, dissolve it in warm water with sugar and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before mixing it into the flour.
- For a more flavorful dough, you can let it rise overnight in the fridge and bring it to room temperature before using.
