Description

This homemade pizza dough recipe yields a soft, chewy crust with a perfect balance of flavor. Whether you’re making a classic Margherita pizza, a creative topping combination, or even a simple cheese pizza, this dough will give your pizza that authentic pizzeria taste right from the comfort of your home. With just a few simple ingredients like yeast, bread flour, and olive oil, you can create a crust that’s both tender and crisp. Perfect for any pizza night!

Ingredients

  • Instant/rapid rise yeast (or active dry yeast)
  • Bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Warm water
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix the yeast with warm water and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • Gradually add the bread flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until the dough begins to come together.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down, turn it out onto a floured surface, and shape it into your desired pizza size.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  • Add your favorite toppings to the dough and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Notes

  • If you don’t have bread flour, all-purpose flour will work, but the texture may be slightly different.
  • If you’re using active dry yeast, dissolve it in warm water with sugar and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before mixing it into the flour.
  • For a more flavorful dough, you can let it rise overnight in the fridge and bring it to room temperature before using.
