Description

This Hibachi-style steak is a quick and flavorful dish with tender pieces of steak seared to perfection, cooked with garlic, butter, and a savory sauce for an authentic Japanese-inspired meal at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb. boneless steak (such as sirloin or fillet), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and melt the butter.
  • Add the garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • Add the steak pieces to the skillet, cooking for about 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is cooked through and browned on all sides.
  • If using, drizzle the sesame oil over the steak and stir to combine.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, teriyaki sauce (or mirin), and pepper.
  • Pour the sauce over the steak, stirring to coat evenly, and cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Serve the hibachi steak hot, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, serve with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables for a complete hibachi-style meal.
  • You can also substitute the steak with chicken or shrimp for variation.
  • Adjust the soy sauce and teriyaki sauce proportions to your preferred level of sweetness or saltiness.
