Description

These Cream Cheese Sausage Balls are the ultimate savory snack or appetizer, perfect for any occasion. The combination of ground sausage, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese creates a rich, flavorful filling, while the baking mix gives them a tender, biscuit-like texture. These bite-sized treats are easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sausage Balls:

  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, depending on your preference)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups baking mix (such as Bisquick)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Prepare the Sausage Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground sausage and softened cream cheese. Use your hands or a spoon to mix them together until well combined.
  • Add the Cheddar Cheese and Baking Mix:
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and baking mix. Continue mixing until everything is evenly distributed and a dough-like consistency forms.
  • Form the Sausage Balls:
Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  • Bake the Sausage Balls:
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve:
Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm!

Notes

  • You can make these ahead of time and freeze them before baking. Just place the unbaked sausage balls on a baking sheet, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. When ready to bake, cook directly from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, use spicy sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the mixture.
