Description

This creamy, savory chicken dish is rich with a smooth cream cheese sauce and a hint of Italian seasoning. The chicken is tender and flavorful, making it the perfect meal for a quick dinner. The combination of garlic, onions, and a touch of red pepper flakes adds depth to the dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 large chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Fresh chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Microwave the cream cheese until very soft. Cut it into smaller pieces and set it aside until needed.
  • Cut the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create 4 thinner pieces. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • In a skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add the chicken and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through (165°F). Transfer the chicken to a plate.
  • Reduce the heat to medium and add the onions to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and lightly browned.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add the chicken broth, cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir until the sauce is smooth (this may take a few minutes).
  • Return the chicken to the skillet and warm through. If the sauce needs thinning, add a splash more chicken broth.
  • Season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can add more red pepper flakes for a spicier kick.
  • This dish pairs well with pasta, rice, or roasted vegetables.
