Description

A delicious, crispy chicken dish with a savory filling of Swiss cheese and ham, all topped with a rich and creamy sauce. This classic Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe is perfect for a special dinner or a comforting meal any day of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

  • 6 slices Swiss cheese

  • 6 slices ham

  • 6 tablespoons butter

  • ½ cup dry white wine

  • 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap. Pound with a meat mallet until about 1/2 inch thick.

  • On each chicken breast, layer a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese, then roll it up tightly.

  • Dredge each chicken roll in flour and paprika mixture to coat evenly.

  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken rolls and cook until golden brown on all sides (about 5-7 minutes).

  • Transfer the browned chicken rolls to a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

  • In the same skillet, add wine, chicken bouillon, and cream. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Stir in cornstarch and cook until the sauce reaches desired consistency.

  • Serve the chicken rolls with the creamy sauce poured over the top.

Notes

  • You can substitute the Swiss cheese with Gruyère or Provolone if preferred.

  • For a crispier texture, you can also bread the chicken rolls before frying.
