Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the Sauce:

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Toppings:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Dough:
    • In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water, then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and mix until the dough starts to come together.
    • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
    • While the dough is rising, heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and basil. Stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Add the tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool.
  • Assemble the Pizza:
    • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Grease a large baking sheet or pizza pan with olive oil.
    • Punch down the dough and transfer it to the prepared pan. Use your hands to stretch the dough to cover the pan.
    • Spread the prepared sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
    • Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the sauce, then add your desired toppings.
  • Bake the Pizza:
    • Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
  • Serve:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • For an extra crispy crust, you can pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding the sauce and toppings.
  • This recipe is perfect for customization—add any of your favorite pizza toppings like sausage, olives, or onions.
  • Leftover pizza can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
