Description

These easy-to-make, flavorful chicken wings are slow-cooked in a crockpot with a tangy BBQ and Buffalo sauce mixture, then broiled to perfection for a crispy, golden finish. Perfect for game day, gatherings, or any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Wings

  • 4 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken wings
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • ¼ cup Buffalo hot sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional Garnishes

  • Sliced green onions
  • Ranch dressing (for dipping)

Instructions

  • Toss the chicken wings with kosher salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, Buffalo hot sauce, and brown sugar.
  • Place the chicken wings into the crockpot and pour half of the sauce mixture over the wings. Reserve the remaining sauce.
  • Cover and cook the wings on low for 3-4 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours.
  • Preheat the oven broiler to high and position an oven rack in the top third of the oven. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the wings on the prepared baking sheet and brush with olive oil. Broil for 2-3 minutes until the wings are browned and crispy.
  • Brush the wings with some of the reserved sauce and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with chopped green onions, if desired. Serve with ranch dressing and the remaining BBQ sauce.

Notes

  • You can adjust the heat of the wings by increasing or decreasing the amount of Buffalo hot sauce.
  • Feel free to use your favorite BBQ sauce for this recipe.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer it on the stovetop for a few minutes before adding it to the wings.
