Description

A fusion dish that combines the crispy crunch of wonton wrappers with the savory, flavorful filling of seasoned chicken. These Asian-inspired tacos offer the perfect balance of texture, flavor, and spice, making them a fun and unique twist on traditional tacos.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken (or shredded cooked chicken)

  • 1214 wonton wrappers (for the taco shells)

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha (optional, for heat)

  • 1 tablespoon honey (for sweetness)

  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced (for garnish)

  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots (optional, for garnish)

  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves (for garnish)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Make the Wonton Taco Shells:

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

    • Lightly grease a muffin tin and place the wonton wrappers over each muffin cup, pressing gently to form a taco shape.

    • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers are crispy and golden. Set aside to cool.

  2. Prepare the Chicken Filling:

    • Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and ginger, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

    • Add the ground chicken to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart, until it’s fully cooked and browned.

    • Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, Sriracha (if using), and honey. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

  3. Assemble the Tacos:

    • Spoon the chicken mixture into each baked wonton wrapper shell.

    • Garnish with green onions, shredded carrots, and cilantro leaves for freshness and color.

  4. Serve:

    • Serve immediately, either as appetizers or as a fun main dish.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the level of heat by adding more or less Sriracha.

  • You can make these vegetarian by swapping the chicken for a plant-based protein or tofu.

  • The wonton shells can be prepared in advance and stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
