Description

Making your own dark chocolate at home is easier than you think, and the results are rich, smooth, and perfectly customizable. This homemade dark chocolate is made with simple ingredients like high-quality cocoa powder, coconut oil, and your choice of sweetener. You can adjust the sweetness to your liking, add in your favorite mix-ins like nuts or dried fruit, and enjoy a delicious, dairy-free treat. Whether you’re craving a healthy indulgence or want to gift something special, this recipe will hit the spot.

Ingredients

  • Cocoa powder (high-quality, unsweetened)
  • Coconut oil (melted)
  • Sweetener (maple syrup, honey, or a sugar substitute)
  • Vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional add-ins (chopped nuts, dried fruit, chili powder, etc.)

Instructions

  • In a heatproof bowl, combine the cocoa powder and melted coconut oil.
  • Add the sweetener of your choice and stir until fully combined.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to balance the flavors.
  • If you’re adding any mix-ins, stir them into the chocolate mixture now.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture into a silicone chocolate mold or a parchment-lined pan, smoothing out the top with a spatula.
  • Place the mold or pan in the freezer and allow the chocolate to set for at least 30-60 minutes, or until fully hardened.
  • Once set, break the chocolate into pieces or pop them out of the mold and enjoy!

Notes

  • The sweetness of this homemade dark chocolate can be adjusted to your taste by increasing or decreasing the sweetener.
  • If using a sugar substitute, make sure to follow the recommended substitution amounts.
  • For a smoother texture, you can add more coconut oil if desired.
  • Store any leftover chocolate in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
