Description

Chocolate-Covered Strawberries are a sweet and indulgent treat, perfect for any occasion, especially Valentine’s Day! With a crisp, juicy strawberry coated in rich, velvety chocolate, these treats are as delightful to look at as they are to eat. Whether you dip them in dark, milk, or white chocolate, they’re sure to impress and satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries (with stems on)
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate (or milk or white chocolate, based on preference)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or coconut oil (optional, for smoothness)
  • Optional toppings: crushed nuts, sprinkles, white chocolate drizzle, etc.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Strawberries:
Wash the strawberries thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels. Make sure they’re completely dry, as water can cause the chocolate to seize up when dipping.
  • Melt the Chocolate:
Break the chocolate into small pieces. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the chocolate in 20-30 second intervals, stirring between each session until smooth and fully melted. Alternatively, use a double boiler over simmering water to melt the chocolate, stirring occasionally. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil or coconut oil to the melted chocolate if you want a smoother finish.
  • Dip the Strawberries:
Holding each strawberry by its stem, dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling it around to coat two-thirds of the strawberry. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing it onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Optional Toppings:
While the chocolate is still wet, roll or sprinkle the dipped strawberries with toppings like crushed nuts, sprinkles, or drizzle with white chocolate for added decoration and flavor.
  • Let Set:
Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature for about 15 minutes or refrigerate for 10 minutes to speed up the hardening process.
  • Serve:
Once the chocolate has set and hardened, serve the strawberries immediately or store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Notes

  • Make sure the strawberries are fully dry before dipping to ensure the chocolate adheres properly.
  • You can get creative by drizzling different types of chocolate over the strawberries or rolling them in other toppings like crushed pretzels or candy.
  • If you’re using white chocolate, it can be a little finicky when melting. Add a small amount of vegetable oil or coconut oil to prevent it from seizing.
