This irresistible Cracker Toffee combines the perfect balance of salty and sweet with crunchy saltine crackers, buttery caramel, and smooth chocolate. It’s a quick and easy treat that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!


Ingredients

  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil and let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  • Pour the hot mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading evenly.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over the melted chocolate if desired.
  • Let the toffee cool completely before breaking it into pieces.

Notes

  • You can use any nuts you prefer, such as walnuts or pecans.
  • For a more decadent treat, drizzle with a little melted white chocolate or caramel sauce.
