- 40 saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil and let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the hot mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading evenly.
- Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts over the melted chocolate if desired.
- Let the toffee cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
